Gina Andracchio - Ceramics - Woodfire Flower & Bowl

These pieces were created using hand building and wheel throwing techniques. Like the other wood fire pieces in my portfolio, these are coated with a special glaze with ashes from my charcoal grill. As you can see, the clay bodies, glazes, and wood kiln all give different effects to the pieces. The Flower shown here has a different clay body than the bowl, which was made with porcelain. The study of ceramics can be like a chemistry class, and you don’t always know what you’ll end up with. I find this absolutely intriguing.
